Location
Located within Pong reservoir bird sanctuary at Dehra in Kangra, Vayu Kutir is recessed about 300m from the Mubarkpur - Dharamshala highway. Perched on high ground, the cottage overlooks Beas river meandering into Pong reservoir, and Dehra town on the northern bank of the river. The fierce and rocky Dhauladhar sub Himalayan range, snow capped for 7-8 months in a year, serves as the backdrop on a clear day for picture postcard views from the rooftop deck of Vayu Kutir.

Jawala ji, Chintpurni, and Baglamukhi temples are just 25 to 35 min drive from Vayu Kutir, making the cottage an ideal resting place for pilgrims the year around.
Winter migration of thousands of water birds - Bar-headed goose, Ruddy Shelduck, Northern Pintail, Common Teal, Spot-billed duck - to Pong reservoir makes Vayu Kutir a must visit destination for birders. Wet lands near Vayu Kutir such as Bassi, Terrace, Nagrota Surian are birding hotspots from November 15 to March 15.
