Picnics & Fishing

Image
If you love picnics and/or fishing, October & November are the best months to visit Vayu Kutir - Pong reservoir is topped up from monsoon rains and the weather is salubrious. Grassy and soft flat ground on the reservoir bank near Vayu Kutir, interspersed with shady trees makes ideal picnic spot for a day out with the family. There is little human presence around though you are within shouting distance of farmer homes. If you have fishing gear, you can get a fishing license for a day or more. Angling from the shore would be a good way of spending your day but would probably not enable you to cancel your dinner order based on your catch. A reasonable monetary inducement can enthuse a fisherman to take you to deeper waters in his boat. With some luck, and a Clint Eastwoodian 'Make my day' you could end up catching a 5 plus kg Mahseer.
