Bottle Gourd Farming at Vayu Kutir

At Vayu Kutir, we serve our guests organic food cooked using farm-grown vegetables, grains, lentils, and spices.

Growing bottle gourd, even during the peak summer month of May, can be surprisingly easy and rewarding.

And we just harvested seven very beautiful looking laukis. 

Getting a bountiful harvest is simple, it is easy.

There are three things that you need to keep in mind.

1. Hoe the vine bed every four days.
2. Place three-four pieces of mustard oil cake on the sides of where the plant is growing. 
3. Flood the bed with water at dusk and cover it with hay so that the bed retains the moisture.

No fertilizers, no pesticides!

Meals at Vayu Kutir

Open Kitchen in Vayu Kutir living room. We encourage our guests to use the fully equipped kitchen in their apartment suite to cook and manage their own meals.  On special request and when possible we serve home cooked vegetarian meals in a hot case. Typically, the meal consists of a main dish, vegetable, curd and rice and/or chappati.  We serve organic food grown on our own farm without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides. The meals are cooked by the hostess. We serve what we have cooked for ourselves.  There are Dhabas nearby that serve vegetarian food.
